The acid test for you real estate career - what are the chances of your success?

So you decided to start a career in real estate. Before you plunge head in and spend money on getting your real estate certificate you, should study some statistics. They are available on the ACAIQ website. First, you should look at the overall number of new agents per year and how many of them call it quits over the years. Go to:

Here you have to do some calculations on your own. You will have to see how many agents managed to stay in business per office per year. For example for a company like Sutton (established in 1983) you will have to divide the number of agents – 2698 – by the number of brokers (offices) – 73 – and years in business - 26. The result - 1.42 - tells us that there are less than two agents per year who were successful after joining an Sutton office (see table 1 for all the results).

There are many roadblocks to a thriving real estate career and I cannot think of any other business that chews up and spits out people so quickly as the real estate brokerage business. By doing a serious market study and planning accordingly, you can greatly improve your chances of success.
